Hackspace News: Membership & Housekeeping

The Hackspace is now well on the road to recovery, and since our last update on the 29th of September 2021, we’ve had a 25% increase in membership, resulting in the Hackspace achieving financial stability once more.
This is great news, and has recently enabled the committee to commence a refresh of the workspace providing a more functional and appealing environment.

Following on from the last update, the committee has started to inventory its current tools and equipment, replacing those that are beyond repair, and introduce some better tool storage, giving the space a more “clutter free” feel.

Over the last few weeks, members have been assisting the committee in making peg boards to suspend various tools from, and the recent purchase of an Ender 3 v2 3D printer, has enabled the space to print the various brackets required to mount the tools to the peg boards. This may seem minor, but this all contributes to attracting new membership, an important aspect of maintaining and growing the hackspace.

The inventory and the workspace refresh has been a good opportunity for us to discuss and establish what tools / equipment we require to press on with organising events and classes, but not only this, but which tools and consumables are a priority to members to ensure we continue to provide a valuable resource.

Our AGM is due on the 30th of October 2021, more details about this will be disseminated to members shortly, however it is anticipated that more detailed plans as to the committee’s aspirations will be revealed then. To our members, this is a great opportunity to get involved, and have your say on the Hackspaces future.
